A Community Revolution through Serving
Jesus taught us the importance of serving one another in John Chapter 13 when He washed the disciples’ feet and commanded them to wash each other’s feet. He went on to say, “I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.”
Our church will be partnering with many other churches in the Texas City/La Marque communities to serve our community as one body of believers on Sunday, May 5th. Instead of our normal Sunday schedule, we’ll move from our seats to the streets to engage our community by going beyond the walls of our church building to put our faith into action and serve. This day of service is called Servolution Mainland. We hope you will sign up to serve with us and be a blessing to our community!
We will serve a light breakfast at 8am followed by one early service that day at 8:30am and then go out into the community and serve our neighbors through many different projects. There will be service projects for all ages as well as all skill levels. After we serve, we will join with the other participating churches for a group photo plus a time of fellowship and lunch at 1:00pm at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Texas City.
Our church nursery will be available for children babies through Kindergarten. Children 1st – 3rd grade have two options. They can sign up to serve with their parents or they can sign up to participate in Kids Can Serve 2, which will be held at St. John’s Methodist for 1st – 3rd graders. They will be participating in age-appropriate service projects that will benefit our community as well.
You can sign up to be the hands and feet of Jesus at Servolution Mainland at fbctc.com, on the church’s Facebook page or in the church foyer.
